Product Description

The Bounty Hunter Discovery 2200 is built for hobbyists ready to move beyond beginner-level gear. Designed for coin shooters, relic hunters, and treasure enthusiasts, it combines intuitive operation with advanced detection capability. A standout feature is its four-tone audio target ID system, which helps quickly distinguish between different types of metals while in motion.

Operating at 6.7 kHz, the Discovery 2200 delivers reliable performance in real-world conditions, detecting coin-sized targets up to 7 inches deep. Its large LCD display shows probable target ID and depth, helping users quickly decide when to dig. Features like notch discrimination, sensitivity adjustment, and a pinpoint mode enable users to identify targets accurately and ignore trash. The detector uses proprietary Squelch-Tech® circuitry to minimize false signals in challenging ground conditions, and it supports both all-metal and discrimination modes for flexible hunting.

With an ergonomic S-rod handle, padded armrest, and adjustable shaft, the Discovery 2200 is built for all-day use. The weather-resistant design and waterproof 8” open-face searchcoil make it suitable for a variety of terrain types. Powered by two 9V alkaline batteries, the unit offers extended run time, while the easy plug-and-play interface ensures quick startup for every outing.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Discovery 2200 good for beginners?

Yes, it’s an excellent choice for beginners who want more control and performance than entry-level detectors. It features easy-to-use touchpad controls, a clear LCD screen, and both All Metal and Discrimination modes for learning target identification.

What types of metal can this detector find?

It can detect all types of metals including iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper, silver, and gold. Its 4-tone audio and target ID help you identify common objects like coins, jewelry, and relics before digging.

Can it detect coins or rings? How deep?

Yes, it can detect coin-sized objects like quarters up to approximately 7 inches deep, depending on ground conditions. Larger objects can be found at greater depths.

    Is the searchcoil waterproof?

Yes, the 8-inch open-face searchcoil is waterproof, so you can use it in shallow water like streams or wet sand. However, the control box is not waterproof and should be kept dry.

    Does it have pinpointing capability?

It does not have a dedicated pinpoint button, but users can manually pinpoint using the “X-ing” method described in the manual by sweeping the coil over the target from multiple directions.

Can it ignore junk like bottle caps or nails?

Yes, it includes adjustable discrimination, notch, and a zap feature to help eliminate unwanted metals like iron or pull-tabs from detection.

Is the display easy to read?

Yes, it features a large LCD screen that shows target ID and depth for coin-sized objects, making it easy to understand what you’ve found before digging.

What kind of batteries does it use and how long do they last?

It runs on two 9V alkaline batteries (not included), and battery life is approximately 20–25 hours depending on use and headphone volume.

Is it adjustable for different user heights?

Yes, it has an adjustable stem and ergonomic S-rod design with padded arm support, making it comfortable for users of different heights.

Can I use headphones with it?

Yes, it has a standard ¼-inch headphone jack. Using headphones also helps conserve battery life and makes it easier to hear faint target tones.
