Product Description

The Bounty Hunter HandyMan™ Metal Detector is the perfect entry-level tool for hobbyists, homeowners, and young treasure hunters looking to explore their surroundings. Simple to use and ready right out of the box, it stands out with its intuitive two-knob control system that lets users quickly adjust sensitivity and eliminate unwanted metals.

This detector offers impressive sensitivity, detecting coin-sized objects up to 5 inches deep and large metal objects up to 18 inches. Its adjustable sensitivity control helps reduce false signals in areas with electrical interference, while the discrimination knob allows users to eliminate common trash metals like nails or pull-tabs. The HandyMan™ emits audible tones when passing over buried objects and features a practical pinpointing method using an “X-ing” motion to zero in on targets accurately.

Designed with comfort in mind, the HandyMan™ features a lightweight frame and an adjustable shaft to fit users of various heights. The padded grip enhances handling during longer searches, while its durable construction ensures lasting performance. Powered by two 9-volt alkaline batteries, it’s easy to operate and built for long-term use in a variety of outdoor environments.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Bounty Hunter HandyMan good for beginners?

Yes. The HandyMan is designed specifically for first-time users, kids, and casual hobbyists. Its simple two-knob interface makes it easy to learn without complicated settings.

What kind of items can it detect?

The HandyMan can detect a variety of metal objects, including coins, jewelry, tools, and other metal debris. It works best for coin shooting and general-purpose treasure hunting.

How deep can it detect metal objects?

It can detect coin-sized objects up to 5 inches deep and larger metal objects up to 18 inches, depending on soil conditions and sensitivity settings.

Can it tell what type of metal is being detected?

No, the HandyMan does not have target ID or numeric identification. However, you can eliminate unwanted metals (like iron or pull-tabs) using the discrimination knob.

    Is the searchcoil waterproof?

Yes. The 7-inch searchcoil is waterproof and can be used in shallow water like wet sand or shallow streams. The control box, however, is not waterproof.

What kind of batteries does it use, and how long do they last?

It runs on two 9V alkaline batteries (not included). Battery life typically ranges between 20 to 25 hours depending on usage.

    Can kids use the HandyMan?

Yes. With its lightweight design and adjustable shaft, the HandyMan is a great fit for older children (with supervision) and adults alike.

    Does it have pinpoint mode?

No. However, you can pinpoint manually using an “X” sweep pattern to narrow down the location of the object based on audio tone.

Can it be used on the beach?

It works well on dry sand and some damp areas, but it's not recommended for saltwater wet sand or underwater use, as it may pick up interference or damage the control box.
