Product Description

The Bounty Hunter VLF Metal Detector is an ideal entry-level tool for hobbyists and casual treasure hunters seeking reliable performance without a steep learning curve. Designed for general-purpose detecting, it offers simple controls and automatic ground balancing, making it easy to start exploring right out of the box. A standout feature is its Trash Eliminator, which lets users fine-tune detection to avoid common junk metals like nails and pull-tabs.

This detector performs well across varied terrain—beaches, parks, or backyards—thanks to its built-in VLF (Very Low Frequency) technology that adapts to ground conditions automatically. It detects a range of metals including coins, jewelry, and relics, with audio tones that help identify the target type. The analog meter provides a visual signal strength indicator for easier pinpointing, and users can adjust sensitivity to minimize interference in noisy environments.

The Bounty Hunter VLF features a sturdy yet lightweight frame with an adjustable shaft and padded armrest for comfortable extended use. Powered by two standard 9V batteries, it offers solid runtime and dependable performance. Its intuitive layout and plug-and-play design ensure a frustration-free user experience, making it a trusted tool for hours of outdoor fun.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good metal detector for beginners?

Yes, the Bounty Hunter VLF is designed specifically for beginners. It features simple controls, automatic ground balancing, and intuitive audio feedback that make it easy to learn and use right out of the box.

What types of items can it detect?

It can detect a wide range of metal objects, including coins, jewelry, relics, and household items. It also has limited capability for detecting larger gold objects in areas with low mineralization.

Can it tell the difference between trash and valuable targets?

Yes, the built-in Trash Eliminator lets you filter out common junk items like nails and pull-tabs, while still detecting coins and other valuable metals. It also provides two-tone audio to help distinguish between different metal types.

    Is the searchcoil waterproof?

Yes, the 7" searchcoil is waterproof, which means you can use it in shallow water like creeks or wet sand. However, the control box is not waterproof, so avoid submerging the unit.

How deep can it detect metal objects?

Detection depth depends on the size and type of the target. Coins and small items can typically be detected up to 5–6 inches deep, while larger objects can be found at greater depths.

Does it have a pinpoint mode?

No, the VLF model does not have a dedicated pinpoint mode. However, you can still locate targets accurately using the signal strength meter and by sweeping the coil slowly over the area.

What kind of batteries does it use, and how long do they last?

It runs on two 9V alkaline batteries (not included) and offers around 20–25 hours of detecting time, depending on use and battery quality.

Is it adjustable for different heights?

Yes, the shaft length is adjustable, making it comfortable for both kids and adults to use. It’s also lightweight, which helps reduce fatigue during long searches.
