Very good detector

After looking at numerous video demos and trials on YT and knowing the proven platforms this detector was built on, I decided to buy one. I like the large backlit display and the whole unit is so light. The notch function on this thing is awesome. I haven’t had a chance to do any real detecting with it yet because of our weather. The air test I have done are impressive, so I am eager to try some real world results. You can’t go wrong with a Bounty Hunter, they are good detectors. I still have my DE280:Outlaw which was my first serious detector and I found a lot of coins and relics with it. One feature of the TRPro I like is it only uses ONE 9volt battery!

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I best balance sensitivity and threshold in highly mineralized soil?

Start by using manual ground balance to reduce noise. Then, slightly lower sensitivity to reduce interference. After that, adjust the threshold just below the audible hum so faint signals still break through. This combo gives better control in hot ground.

Is there a way to tell if a target is large or just shallow?

Use Pinpoint Mode to gauge the signal's spread. A shallow coin-sized target gives a narrow, sharp peak, while a large or irregularly shaped object spreads the signal wider. Also, the V.C.O. audio pitch can help—higher pitch doesn't always mean deeper, just stronger.

How does iron masking affect target ID in iron-heavy areas?

Iron-rich environments can “mask” good targets. The Time Ranger Pro’s FeTone™ helps mitigate this by lowering iron volume, but careful coil control (slow sweeping) and rotating your sweep direction around the target can reveal high-conductivity objects that might be hidden.

What's the best way to differentiate between a pull-tab and a gold ring?

Pull-tabs and small gold rings often overlap in conductivity. Try toggling between All Metal Mode and Disc Mode, and observe the Target ID stability. Gold rings tend to produce consistent signals from multiple angles, while tabs can jump or fade.

Can I detect tiny nuggets or small jewelry with the stock coil?

The stock 11" DD coil can detect small items, but for micro targets like tiny nuggets or earrings, a smaller concentric coil (e.g., 5" round) offers better sensitivity and target separation in trashy areas.

Can the Time Ranger Pro find coins and jewelry?

Yes! It's designed for general-purpose treasure hunting and does great with coins, rings, and other jewelry—even in moderately trashy areas thanks to its adjustable discrimination and iron audio features.

Can beginners use it, or is it only for experienced users?

It’s great for both! Beginners can rely on automatic features like Ground Grab® and preset modes, while more experienced users can take advantage of manual controls for fine-tuning.

Is it good for use in parks or backyards?

Yes, it works very well in typical soils found in parks, yards, and fields. Just turn it on, ground balance, and go—it's sensitive enough for small finds without being overly complicated.
