Wayne Vignes Protects my 4" BH coil from bumps, scratches, scuffs and from a too frisky user who could possibly crack the coil casing. It's inexpensive insurance and if I should trade or resell the detector -- BINGO! Pop off the cover and the coil will look new. Win--win
