Product Description

Fisher Gold Bug® Pro Metal Detector is a top choice for dedicated treasure hunters and gold prospecting enthusiasts. Designed with advanced technology, the Gold Bug® Pro offers exceptional sensitivity to even the smallest gold nuggets, making it ideal for use in highly mineralized soils. Its compact 5” DD searchcoil ensures precise detection, allowing you to uncover gold in challenging environments like remote hillsides or stream beds.

Equipped with a sophisticated ground balancing system, the Gold Bug® Pro minimizes false signals from mineralized soil, providing clearer detection of valuable targets. With separate controls for signal gain and threshold, you can easily fine-tune the detector to suit various terrains. The unique discrimination system helps filter out unwanted metals, ensuring more time is spent discovering treasures and less time digging up trash.

While the Gold Bug® Pro is optimized for gold prospecting, it also excels in relic hunting and coin shooting. The optional 11” DD searchcoil can be added for deeper ground penetration and broader coverage, making this detector a versatile tool for any adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned prospector or a hobbyist, the Fisher Gold Bug® Pro promises a rewarding experience on every treasure hunt.

Purpose: Gold Prospecting, General Purpose, Coin Shooting, Relic Hunting, Jewelry

    Frequently Asked Questions

What is the optimal way to fine-tune the Ground Balance for detecting small gold nuggets in mineralized soil?

To fine-tune Ground Balance, first use Ground Grab® to match the ground phase. Then, manually adjust it slightly positive (increase GND BAL value) to enhance sensitivity to tiny gold nuggets while still rejecting mineralization.

How does the Fisher Goldbug-Pro handle hot rocks compared to other gold detectors?

The Goldbug-Pro has excellent sensitivity to small gold but can also detect positive hot rocks as if they were metal. For negative hot rocks, the detector may produce a "boing" sound rather than a clean signal. The best way to distinguish these is to use manual ground balancing and listen for target consistency.

Can the Fisher Goldbug-Pro be used effectively in wet saltwater sand?

The Goldbug-Pro is not optimized for wet saltwater conditions due to its high sensitivity to mineralization. However, lowering Gain and manually adjusting the Ground Balance towards a lower phase number (closer to 0-10) can help mitigate excessive chatter.

How does the V.C.O. (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) audio response enhance target identification?

Unlike simple beeps, the V.C.O. audio response changes in both pitch and volume based on the target's size and depth. This allows experienced users to distinguish between small, shallow targets and large, deep ones more effectively.

What is the best way to use the Goldbug-Pro in areas with heavy electromagnetic interference (EMI)?

If EMI is an issue, try reducing the Gain, setting the Discrimination level between 60 and 70, and using All Metal Mode instead of Discrimination Mode. If interference persists, turning the searchcoil to different angles or using a smaller coil can help.

Why does the target ID jump around when detecting gold nuggets?

Small, irregularly shaped gold nuggets have inconsistent conductivity, causing target ID values to fluctuate as the coil moves over them. To compensate, listen to the repeatability of the audio signal rather than relying solely on numerical values.

How does the Fisher Goldbug-Pro differentiate iron targets from valuable metals in highly mineralized ground?

The Fe3O4 meter provides an estimate of iron mineralization. If the Fe-Tone audio is enabled, it will produce a distinctive low tone for iron targets, allowing you to differentiate trash metal from gold without completely discriminating out iron.

How does temperature affect the performance of the Goldbug-Pro?

The detector operates best between 14°F to 122°F (-10°C to 50°C). Extreme cold may cause slower LCD refresh rates and reduced battery efficiency, while extreme heat can increase susceptibility to drift in the threshold signal.

What is the best coil option for maximizing gold detection depth?

The standard 5" searchcoil is optimized for precision and high sensitivity to small gold nuggets, especially in mineralized soil. However, the optional 11" DD coil provides greater ground coverage and depth, making it better for detecting larger nuggets at deeper depths

Why does the Goldbug-Pro sometimes produce false signals when I bump the coil against rocks or ground?

This can happen due to coil microphonics (electronic noise from physical impact) or excessive Gain settings. Try reducing Gain, ensuring the coil cable is securely wrapped, and testing with a different coil if the issue persists.
