Product Description

The Fisher WLT is a professional-grade water level indicator designed for technicians and field engineers who require accurate measurements in wells, boreholes, and standpipes. Built for ease of use and long-lasting performance, it provides precise audio and visual alerts the moment the probe contacts water. Its standout feature is guaranteed ±0.4% accuracy, even in challenging conditions like mineralized or oil-contaminated water.

Engineered for reliability in field environments, the WLT features crimped brass depth markers at consistent intervals and a flexible brass electrode for repeatable results. An intuitive toggle switch enables battery checks and simple operation, while a bright LED and audible beep confirm contact with water. Available in multiple cable lengths (100–500 ft or 50–150 m), the WLT suits a range of applications, from routine monitoring to draw-down testing. Special instructions ensure continued performance in mineralized water or oily conditions.

Housed in a lightweight yet durable spool, the WLT is designed for portability without compromising strength. It runs on a single 9V battery with efficient power usage and minimal maintenance. Optional hard cases provide added protection for rugged deployments. Whether you're performing groundwater studies or utility inspections, the Fisher WLT delivers trusted performance backed by over 85 years of Fisher engineering excellence.

Purpose: Measuring static water levels in wells, boreholes, standpipes, and other groundwater monitoring applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the guaranteed measurement accuracy of the Fisher WLT?

The WLT guarantees ±0.4% accuracy from the probe tip to any depth marker on the cable, ensuring precision in groundwater monitoring applications.

How does the WLT indicate contact with water?

When the brass electrode contacts water, the unit emits both an audible beep and activates a red LED light for dual-mode confirmation.

What is the tensile strength of the WLT’s cable?

The two-conductor steel and copper-plated cable has a tensile strength of approximately 300 lbs, making it suitable for deep well applications without risk of snapping.

Are there metric versions available?

Yes, the WLTM metric version is available with cable lengths of 50, 100, and 150 meters. These cables feature brass depth markers at 1-meter intervals.

Can the brass electrode be replaced in the field?

Yes, the brass electrode is field-replaceable. Fisher also offers a 1/2" diameter probe as a special-order alternative to the standard 3/8" version.

How should the unit be used in mineralized or “hard” water environments?

In hard water, the LED and beep may continue after removal from the water. To reset, fully rewind the cable and dry or blow out the electrode before reuse.

What precautions should be taken in wells contaminated with oil?

Use a provided probe cover (T-bag) over the electrode, wet it before insertion, and slowly withdraw it past the oil-water contact for a clean, accurate reading.

How is the WLT powered, and what is its expected battery life?

The unit runs on one standard 9V battery, with an operational life of 25–35 hours depending on usage and sound volume settings.

What happens if the cable or probe shorts out?

A short circuit in the cable or probe will trigger the LED and audio even without water contact. Inspect for physical damage or residue, clean the electrode, and repair any shorts before reuse.

Can the cable be custom ordered in lengths beyond 500 feet or marked differently?

Fisher offers custom cable lengths up to 500 feet or 150 meters. You can specify English or metric units and request numbered or blank brass markers based on your project needs.
