    Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my detector occasionally give inconsistent target ID readings on the same object?

Variations in target ID occur due to factors like target depth, orientation, nearby mineralization, and multiple targets in close proximity. If a target is at an angle or partially buried, its conductivity reading can shift. Try scanning the object from multiple directions and using Pinpoint Mode to refine identification.

How can I improve detection in highly mineralized soil if the detector has a preset ground balance?

While the Titanium Camo has a preset ground balance, you can optimize performance by reducing sensitivity, using Discrimination Mode to filter out unwanted signals, and ensuring a steady coil height above the ground. If erratic signals persist, lowering the sensitivity further can help stabilize detection.

Can I use the Titanium Camo for underwater metal detecting?

The search coil is waterproof, meaning you can use it in shallow water such as wet sand, riverbanks, or puddles. However, the control box is not waterproof and should not be submerged. When using in wet conditions, protect the control box with a waterproof cover.

How can I distinguish between pull tabs and gold rings using the Titanium Camo?

Pull tabs and gold rings often produce similar signals, but gold rings tend to produce more stable signals across multiple sweeps, whereas pull tabs can have inconsistent IDs. Slowly sweep the coil over the object—if the signal fluctuates, it’s likely a pull tab; if consistent, it could be a gold ring.
How do I accurately determine an object’s depth with the Titanium Camo?
The detector has a 5-segment depth indicator, but for better accuracy, lift the coil while scanning. If the signal weakens quickly, the object is likely shallow; if the signal remains strong for longer, the object is deeper. Using Pinpoint Mode can help refine depth estimation.
Can the Titanium Camo detect very small gold nuggets?
The Titanium Camo operates at 7.69 kHz, which is not optimized for small gold nuggets like higher-frequency gold detectors. However, it can detect medium-to-large gold pieces. To improve detection, use All Metal Mode and max sensitivity, but be aware that it may pick up more ground noise.
